Avoid products that contain added oils

Avoid products that contain added oils. These products contain a small amount of trans fat. According to Susan Mayne, the Director of FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, FDA (2015), edible oils contain a small amount of trans fat (para. 6). The trans fats found in edible oils have been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (FDA, 2015, para. 5). There is currently no safe level of trans fats to consume (IOM, 2002, para.8).
